Let’s dive in to the 2022 ManikatoStakes Runner By Runner analysis, with prices brought to you by BaggyBet.

1 - Behemoth (16) - $26

J: B. Melham

T: D. Jolly

Think the best is past the big boy from South Australia. Task has been made even tougher with the barrier. His mid prep trial was solid but would need to find lengths on his first up run.

2 - Eleven Eleven (7) - $16

J: H. Bowman

T: G. Hickman

Even though his record first up looks poor, he has run some big races in defeat. One trial leading in was solid but it was a month ago with no public trials since. Going to get a gun run and at his best can trouble here. It wouldn’t shock to see him run well here. One for multiples.

3 - Streets of Avalon (10) - $61

J: Z. Spain

T: S. Nicholls

As honest as the days long. Will be in the first few and expect him to put in a bold showing at his big odds. Two trials since his let up have been strong but think he will be using this as a kick off for a 1400m race in Cup week.

4 - The Inferno (17) - $31

J: B. Shinn

T: C. Brown

He is talent the ex Singapore galloper but just can never draw a barrier. Was run off his feet in the Moir after a solid first up performance against some of the favoured runners here. Tick over trial good but think he will be asked to do much.

5 - Paulele (6) - $3.80

J: J. McDonald

T: J. Cummings

Was run of his feet in the 1000m Moir Stakes and ended up in the inferior ground but his last 100m was very good. Won well at Caulfield but that form does look a touch iffy with Ingratiating running so badly in the Everest. 1200m suits and will be in the finish if he brings his best and finds luck at the right time.

6 - Shaquero (12) - $91

J: B. Prebble

T: C. Waller

Don’t really know how an 87 rater makes the field over a Group 1 winner with a 107 rating but anyway. Not going well due to the wet tracks and now steps up in grade with a likely wet track. It’s a no for me.

7 - Rothfire (5) - $7

J: D. Lane

T: R. Heathcote

At the time of writing he is the one over the odds. SP’d favourite in the Moir where he was held up at a key stage at the top of the straight. Getting double the price now and has drawn ideally here. 1200m now suits and conditions should be okay at this stage. Key chance.

8 - The Astrologist (8) - $21

J: F. Kersley

T: L & T Corstens

Another honest campaigner and looks to get an okay run from the draw. Don’t think he is going as well as he was in the Autumn but the Private Eye form looks stronger now. But believe he needs to find a couple lengths.

9 - September Run (13) - $17

J: K. McEvoy

T: C. Waller

Think she is the best of the chances that will be swooping late. May as well forget she went around in the Moir where she just had no luck at all. Strong piece of work between runs and Waller is a pattern trainer and her second up performances are usually her best during her preps. She can run a race here at odds.

10 - Bella Nipotina (2) - $6

J: C. Williams

T: C. Maher & D. Eustace

Definition of airborne this girl and deserves a group 1. Sat 3-4 wide in the Moir which was the inferior ground on the night, only to be beaten by her stablemate on the rail. The draw looks a touch sticky as she may be coffined on the fence and needing to find luck. She’s a key winning hope but Willow will be riding for luck.

11 - Roch N Horse (15) - $21

J: P. Moloney

T. M. Moroney

The Newmarket winner has been thereabouts in this prep without getting the job done. The form looks strong out of her latest with Private Eye running so well in the Everest. Sticky draw is the negative, multiple player but doubt it wins.

12 - Jamaea (9) - $41

J: J. McNeil

T: R & L Price

Her results look worse than her actual form suggests and the drop back to 1200m suits. Will be a long way back and needing luck to figure which is always dicey position to be at The Valley. Deteriorating track is also a negative. Looking to others.

13 - Best of Bordeaux (14) - $13

J: T. Clark

T: K. Fogden

Comes here off a strong win in weaker grade, which was on a track that he had all favours on. Gets one of the best front running jockeys on the land aboard here, but the barrier looks sticky for him. May use up too much early petrol to get across here which could bring him undone against the older and more seasoned horses. Happy to be against.

14 - Coolangatta (1) - $5

J: J. Kah

T: C. Maher & D. Eustace

Happy to take on the Moir Stakes winner here. Aided by the rails in run bias on the evening she fell in that night. She may be aided again but the weakness of her finale turns me off her here with the speed engaged here. Think she’s well under the odds stepping up to the 1200m.

15 - Savatoxl (18) - $81

J: L. Meech

T: T & C McEvoy

Bizarre a group 1 winner misses the field but his form was along way off his best in his latest preparation. Will take a massive form reversal to win this and the barrier isn’t kind.

16 - General Beau (11) - $81

J:

T: M. Ellerton

Unlikely to gain a start in the race. Plenty of time for the horse but he is a rung below even these B grade types I feel.

17 - In The Boat (3) - $41

J: B. McDougall

T: L. Smith

Unlikely to gain a start in the race. Strong gate speed and would be likely able to find rail or sit outside speed. Anything worse than a soft 5 will be a negative.

18 - Sweet Ride (4) - $51

J: C. Schofield

T: A. Neasham

Unlikely to gain a start in the race. In the unlikely case he does his form has been very good around the top 3YO sprinters. Will go well but doubt his classy enough for a race like this.
