Primetime Picks: Why Wilson's Broncos are poised to put Colts to the sword

If you’re looking to lay the points in Thursday Night’s AFC clash between the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts, you’ve come to the right place.

While Russell Wilson’s opening month at his new club hasn’t lived up to the expectations set when he signed a five-year 240-million dollar contract, the energy at Mile High is about to change.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got respect for Frank Reich and his operation at Indianapolis, but there’s one bloke who’s massively holding this ball club back… Matt Ryan.

The 37-year-old Boston College graduate ranks comfortably in the bottom 10 of passer ratings and his campaign doesn’t get any easier when he visits a defensive unit that’s well above average.

Traveling quarterbacks never look forward to the dreaded trip to Denver, as the altitude can do all sorts of things to the passes you put up in the air.

And the last thing a struggling Ryan needs is a difficult set of circumstances.

Ryan is 0-1-1 on the road so far as he drew with the lowly Texans before getting belted by Jacksonville in week two, a contest in which Indy failed to register a point.

The W-L column will tell you they knocked off the Chiefs, and fair’s fair, but Kansas City had that game iced before defensive lineman Chris Jones gave away an unsportsmanlike penalty, giving the Colts a fresh set of downs and allowing them to win the game in the dying moments.

What I’m trying to tell you is that the Colts aren’t up to scratch, and that will be evident in week five.

I can forgive Wilson for taking some time to get cooking in this new system, but you’re about to see not only a strong outing from the 2014 Super Bowl champion, but savage effort from Denver’s defence.

Alright, enough waffle… let’s feed the punters some bets.
